Jane Fonda is so empowered, hey!
One of the things that we on the left pride ourselves on (but not in an egocentric way) is our ability to "let go" of the past.
Needless to say, our enemies are simply incapable of this. Take this guy, a Vietnam vet who spat on fellow traveller Jane Fonda recently.
The fact that he spat tobacco juice must have been particularly appalling given Jane's high level of health awareness. But Fonda reacted (wo)manfully, and soldiered on pacifistically regardless.
Hey, Mister Spitty! Why can't you just, like, move on?
You baby killing fascist, you.

Are you kidding me. You folks have never left the Vietnam war. That's all we hear, Oh it's a quagmire, just like Vietnam. What moon bats.

Hating Jane Fonda shouldn't be the preserve of the Right. The Left if they wanted to restore a semblance of credibility should fight for the right of every American no matter their politics to be allowed to show their distaste for Jane Fonda with impunity. Lets see the marches in the street for that.

Jane Fonda is a treacheros slut and way beyond contempt. Even spitting tobacco at her is to much of a compliment.

Oops
She doesn't seem to be very popular for some reason.

The guy was wrong for spitting on her. A better protest would have been to spit in front of her and tell her why. And he should apologize. Of course, his apology need be no more sincere than her apology for her unforgiveable actions as a traitor during the Vietnam war.
But I do love the irony of someone on the left telling a Vietnam vet to "move on." You can't swing a dead liberal cat without hitting a 1000 lefties shouting about how Iraq (and any war not started by a Democrat) is just like Vietnam. It's the everlasting selling point for all those left over 60 liberals who just can't get past the fact of their irrelevance.
But then again it is very tough to be a lefty these days. Loss after loss after loss.
I almost feel sorry for you. Almost.

Derek,
Can you settle something. We are trying to work out if you are a left-wing site or a satire of a left-wing site by others. Because the cliches here are laid on with a trowel, and hence very funny. But maybe you are being serious, which is your right - there is no pun intended there.
Calling the guy a baby eating fascist is not an example of letting go of the past. But every post of yours has heaps of these. It is almost as if you identify as a "left-wing person" and hence examine everything purely from that perspective, rather than with an open mind. People of every religion and ideology do that - but it isn't exactly helpful or "progressive".
Cheers.

I do not think that Ms. Fonda-Hayden-Turner deserved to be spat upon at a book signing. I think she deserved to be beheaded on public television (live up to a certain point) replete with Allah Akbar's around. And Barbarella sucked, too.
